THIS WEEK IN HISTORY & THIS WEEK IN THE FUTURE Your high school and college textbooks redact history, so why can't I? **************************************************************** WEEK 2, SEPTEMBER 1979 The Camp David Accords is signed bringing peace between Israel and Egypt. Both countries agree to a cessation of hostility, Egypt agrees to recognize the country of Israel, and Israel agrees to withdraw from the Sinai. Oh, and it helps that President Carter promises both countries billions of dollars in US taxpayer money to each country, each year to perpetuity. US President Jimmy Carter is given credit but he merely offered the bribe. Moderate Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat was the real hero as he was the first Arab leader to settle for peace with Israeli. Sadat was rewarded by being assassinated by less moderate Arabs in 1981. This same week in 1993 the Oslo Peace Accords are signed by Prime Minister Rabin from Israel and Dictator for Life Arafat from the PLO. Terrorist activities continue and outright war breaks out once again in 2000 and 2006.
WEEK 2, SEPTEMBER 2010 President Obama
signs a peace treaty with Iran and gives them Czechoslovakia. He returns
to the US proclaiming "Peace in our time." xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WEEK 1, SEPTEMBER 1807 Former US Vice-President Aaron Burr is acquitted of plotting to annex parts of the Louisiana Territory and Spanish territory in Mexico and attempting to establish an independent republic.
WEEK 1, SEPTEMBER 2013 Former US Senator
and presidential candidate John McCain annexes Arizona and establishes
an independent republic. Nobody in America raises an eyebrow over the
loss of Arizona. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WEEK 4, AUGUST 1911 The Mona Lisa is stolen from the Louvre and is found two years later in the hands of former Italian employee, Vincenzo Peruggia. It was rumored that Peruggia was working for the Catholic Church who had the painting expertly doctored in order to debunk the Da Vinci Code.
WEEK 4, AUGUST 2011 The Priory of Scion starts a religious revolution in Europe after producing evidence of the Catholic Church's alteration of the Mona Lisa and suppression of the Da Vinci Code. They successfully reinstall the Merovingian Dynasty in France with a descendent of Mary Magdalene as the new Pope xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WEEK 3, AUGUST 1920 The 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees the right for women to vote, was ratified when Tennessee became the 36th state to approve it. Subsequent generations of women are taught that they can experience their new freedom by voting for a larger, intrusive government, which ironically leads to less freedom and more dependency.
The 28th Amendment to the Constitution revokes the right for women to vote. Over the next several years the size of the government shrinks as nanny state social services are voted out of existence. The unintended consequences also include a lower divorce rate, a lower rate of out of wedlock births, and the gradual repair of the American family. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WEEK 2, AUGUST 1858 The first transatlantic telegraph cable is completed. US President James Buchanan receives a welcome message in Morse code from Queen Victoria of England. Buchanan, a lifelong bachelor, responds with the message, "What are you wearing?" This was considered the first obscene cable message in history. Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, cuts the cable and a second cable is not laid until 1865, after Buchanan has left office.
Newly crowned King
Charles III of England tries to call the President of the United States
and discovers that the White House telephone switchboard has been outsourced
to Pakistan xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WEEK 1, AUGUST 1981 The day the music like died. Like MTV debuts and like totally ruins popular music. Untalented, good-looking lip syncing dancers now become pop superstars. Talent takes a backseat to marketability, and MTV initially refuses to allow black performers on the network.
WEEK 1, AUGUST 2012 MTV airs political re-election ads for black President Barack Obama but refuses to allow ads for Indian-American candidate Bobby Jindal. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WEEK 5, JULY 1419 Followers of executed Protestant religious pioneer Jan Hus storm the city of Prague and throw Catholic political leaders out of the windows of buildings. The First Defenestration of Prague is part of the larger Hussite Wars.
WEEK 5, JULY 2009 Followers of Moveon.org
and the DailyKos storm the city of Washington DC and attempt to throw
Republican political leaders out the windows of buildings
